Eyebrows are distinct part of any face and a particularly important factor in perceived attractiveness. They provide balance, structure and a frame for our faces and help to maintain a youthful appearance. Our eyebrows tend to thin out as we age but there are also other causes of for loss of eyebrow hair. A few examples are stress, thyroid issues, chemical or physical trauma such as scarring, burns or chemo- radio-therapy and even over-plucking or waxinf of the eyebrows.
As with hair transplantation, eyebrow transplantation finds a permanent solution to eyebrow loss for a lifetime and makes it look great. At Zestige, our objective is to give you natural looking eyebrows of your own hair.
At Zestige, eyebrow restoration can be carried out using the FUE or FUT method. In FUE surgery, individual follicles at the donor site (usually behind the ears) are removed and then re-inserted into areas of hair loss. In the FUT or ‘strip’ method, a strip of skin containing the hair follicles is removed from an area of dense hair. The follicles or grafts are extracted from this strip and inserted into the recipient sites. With both methods, care is taken to ensure each follicle or graft contains only a single hair to give the best aesthetic result.
To achieve a natural look, the ducts must be opened very precisely. The channels must be side by side and open. Roots are implanted one by one in open channels, depending on the density and desired shape of the patient. Eyebrows grow at an angle of 10 to 15 degrees, so they take their natural form when transplanting. This is to ensure the orientation of the follicles replicate your native eyebrow hairs as possible.
The procedure is caried out under local anaesthetic and there is minimal discomfort both during and after the procedure.
After surgery, the patient can return home safely. The surgical team will finish the procedure with the tail of the follicle in the recipient area. This will give the patient a strong indication as to what the final eyebrows will look like. The formation of scabs in the treated area is normal. This area should not be in contact with water for 24 hours. After this time, showers can be taken, and the transplanted area may be wetted. It is usual for the scabs to fall during washing. It is normal for transplanted hairs to drop out in the weeks following the surgery, and this process lasts for three months. Then the natural growth of the eyebrows takes eight months.
Initially, the transplanted hair follicles grow like hair, so it is important to maintain them with regular trimming. After a while, the hair follicles adapt to their new positions and continue to grow like eyebrows. After about a year, the appearance of the eyebrows becomes final.
